Chuu Wai Nyein collected print media in Paris and vintage newspapers from Myanmar to show the contrast between societies and to highlight the relative inertia of Burmese cultural values. The background of print in the artwork calls our attention to the busy world of language, culture, of the on-going back and forth of information, travelling across the world, translated and translated again. Layered on top of the newsprint are acrylic images of female identities, some contained others confident, all navigating their way through the information age.
