At this time when freedom of expression is threatened in the country, Chuu Wai and together with 2 Burmese artists have in common to question the place of women in Burmese society as well as the situation of ethnic minorities. The French Institute of Luxembourg invites curator Marie Pierre Mol to present an exhibition of these three committed artists, representatives of contemporary artistic creation in Myanmar.

For the opening, a conference will be organised on the occasion of World Human Rights Day.

Chuu Way has a degree in Information Technology from Mandalay University of Technology, and an Art degree from National University of Art and Culture in Mandalay. Her paintings express her interest in the condition of women and reflect the different forms that discrimination against women takes according to cultural traditions.

Chuu Way has presented 8 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 30 group exhibitions in Myanmar and abroad, particularly in London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Canberra. Chuu has been invited to speak as a speaker at prestigious conferences like the Women’s Forum.

En cette période où la liberté d’expression est menacée dans leur pays, les artistes birmanes Chuu Wai et 2 autres artistes birman sont en commun de questionner la place des femmes dans la société birmane ainsi que la situation des minorités ethniques. L’institut Français du Luxembourg invite la commissaire Marie Pierre Mol à présenter une exposition de ces trois artistes engagées, représentantes de la création artistique contemporaine du Myanmar. Pour l’ouverture, une conférence sera organisée à l’occasion de la Journée mondiale des droits humains.

Chuu Way Nyein (née en 1992) a un diplôme en Technologies de l’Information de l’Université Technologique de Mandalay, et un diplôme d’Art de l’Université Nationale d’Art et de Culture de Mandalay.  Ses peintures expriment son intérêt pour la condition féminine et reflètent les différentes formes que prend la discrimination envers les femmes en fonction des traditions culturelles.

Chuu Way Nyein a présenté 8 expositions solo et a participé a plus de 30 expositions de groupe au Myanmar et à l’étranger, en particulier à Londres, Paris, New York, Hong Kong et Canberra. Chuu Way Nyein a été invitée à prendre la parole comme intervenante dans de prestigieuses conférences comme le Women’s Forum.
